Congratulations!

The Social Work faculty and staff would like to congratulate you on your acceptance into the Westfield Campus Advanced Full-Time (1-Year) MSW Program at Westfield State University.

Summer Bridge Course

As an Advanced Standing student, you are required to take, SOCW 0543 -  Generalist Practice Bridge Course, at Westfield State University. This is an online course that begins on July 7th and ends August 18th. This course prepares students to enter the advanced level of MSW education. This course focuses on the core knowledge, values, and skills that form the foundation of generalist practice. You will receive an email in your WSU email account with information regarding your registration into this summer course.

Practicum Education

As a full-time student, you will be in a practicum placement this coming fall. To obtain placement you must first establish your Westfield State email address to receive practicum communication. You will then review Practicum Manual & Orientation before submitting your Practicum Placement Agreement Form once accepted to the program. (This Microsoft Form requires your WSU email). Please visit the MSW Accepted Students webpage and scroll down to the section: Practicum Education, to complete required steps.

Completion of your Practicum Placement Agreement Form allows you to be assigned a practicum advisor and start your placement process. Any placement agreement forms received after April 1 will be ineligible to enter placement and will result in losing your full-time status in the program.

For more information about practicum, you may visit the Practicum Education Webpage. You are welcome to contact the Social Work Practicum Department at swpracticumed@westfield.ma.edu with any questions you may have. The Practicum Education Director, Ashley Torres, can be reached at aatorres@westfield.ma.edu.

Transfer Credits

If you have taken graduate social work courses from a CSWE-accredited MSW program, you may be able to transfer up to 6 graduate credits to the WSU MSW program. To do this, we need an official transcript and a copy of the course syllabus. Once you have the syllabus, please make an appointment with Dr. Fakunmoju to determine whether your prior courses may be transferred for WSU MSW graduate credit.
