Our Faculty

Our faculty deciphers how the galaxies evolve by observing stars and gas in the Milky Way and in neighboring galaxies. We use world-class telescopes and study at observatories locally and around the globe. Our astronomers are also part of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey consortium, one of the most significant astronomy projects of all time.

What Sets Us Apart

In our observational astronomy and computational physics program, you鈥檒l have the tools you need to explore the skies鈥攜ou can even observe firsthand at observatories such as the McDonald Observatory in Fort Davis, Texas.

Career Prospects

Graduates in physics and astronomy can continue graduate studies to work in research or academic settings, or work in industries such as scientific instrumentation, aerospace and defense or at observatories. Our alumni have landed jobs at companies such as:

  • NASA
  • Lockheed Martin
  • Space Telescope Science Institute
  • Frontiers of Flight Museum
