Leonardo AndradeProfessor
Biography
Leonardo F. Andrade earned his master’s degree from the University of Brasília (Brazil) and his doctorate from the University of Florida. After completing his Ph.D. under the mentorship of Dr. Timothy Hackenberg in 2010, he held a postdoctoral position at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine working with Dr. Nancy Petry. He was the recipient of the 2013 American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology New Investigator Award and has published book chapters and research articles in several prominent journals, including the Journal of Experimental Analysis of Behavior and the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis. Currently a Professor of Psychology at Westfield State University, Dr. Andrade focuses his research on impulsive decision-making and its relationship to treatment and relapse. He has examined impulsivity through the lens of delay and probability discounting in college students as well as populations experiencing alcohol and drug abuse, and pathological gambling. His research interests also extend to the application of contingency management to promote abstinence from drugs and medication adherence, and to increase job-seeking activities and physical exercise.
